Things just keep getting brighter and brighter around here! It seems as though the change in temperature has brought about a change in my color choices. When it’s hot out side, the most comfortable thing for me to wear is the beloved maxi-dress. I love a good maxi-dress. Who doesn’t? It’s comfortable, versatile, and most import, it’s modest. I purchased this dress from Walmart a few years ago to wear for a vacation to Puerto Rico. I
got violently ill to the point of death wasn’t feeling well for the majority of the trip, so there isn’t much photo evidence that it even happened. I’m not even sure if I wore the dress at all during that trip, but I definitely took it out for a spin when I got home and have been wearing it on warm days ever since.
I hardly ever wear my clothes the way they were designed to be worn. This is one of those times. After a few washes, this maxi-dress lost some length, so to move the hem line up, I tied the cloth belt fairly tightly, and I pulled some of the material over the top of the belt. Not only did it shorten the hem, but it made it appear to be two pieces and added some interest.
To cover my arms, I added this beige cardigan (also from Wal-Mart).
I love the tie and the band that cinches the waist. The belt could have been tied in the front, but I chose to tie it in the back so that the colors from the dress are more exposed.
I was tempted to wear my lime green flats (for the trillionth time), but I opted for the lime green watch and went with some off white wedges I purchased from Ross.
As it gets warmer outside, layers feel less and less comfortable. This might cause you to feel like modesty is just too difficult to accomplish in warm temperatures, but I assure you, it is possible to dress like a woman of God even on the hottest spring day. Here are some things we can do to achieve that.
The first thing we must do is take off pride and clothe our mind and heart in humility.
A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit Proverbs 29:23 KJV
The next thing we have to do everyday is put on the whole armor of God.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Ephesians 6:13 KJV
The third thing we need to do is make sure that we are walking in God’s Spirit with the aim of pleasing Him and not ourselves.
Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another. Galatians 5:25-26 NLT
Finally, even more important than the style of clothing we are wearing, we must make sure that we are adorned with love.
What are some of your warm weather clothing staples?
You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Your price is far above the price of rubies. You are a child of the King of Kings!
God bless you!
