A few years ago, I attempted to make a natural cream for my hair and skin. I haven’t looked back since. I now use it everyday in lieu of my Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works lotions (which I was obsessed with for years). Since making the change, my skin has improved by leaps and bounds. I have made several different versions of this, and I usually don’t make it the same way twice, but these are basics.
This is my no fuss, do it yourself cream. I have seen tutorials where it looks like they are cooking a full meal, or doing some kind of complicated lab experiment. Complicated is not my thing. I simplified this process so that someone whose gifts are not in the kitchen can make this awesome skin and hair cream. It’s as easy as 1,2,3….literally.
All I need is a jar and two spoons (I use one spoon to scape the other so I don’t get it all over my hands).
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
African Shea Butter
Vitamin E Oil
Tea Tree Oil
I don’t use any specific measurements, I just try to achieve a smooth texture and keep everything balanced.
Step 1: Gather your ingredients.
Step 2: Mix them together.
Step 3: Use.
I told you!
After I made this batch, I realized I had some Castor oil and I added it in to the mix. The beauty of making your own cream is the freedom to add whatever you like. I prefer to add a scent to mine, but when I make it for others, I leave it unscented so they can add whatever scent they prefer.
This cream has been a game changer for my hair and skin. I don’t normally get breakouts on my face, but I do get them pretty severely on my shoulders and arms. Since I started using this cream, major breakouts are a thing of the past, and the scarring from past breakouts has cleared significantly. I get dry patches of skin on the backs of my arms, but when I apply this cream, within a day or two they are cleared up. I have less scars and skin irritations and my dry scalp is completely gone. My hair has retained moisture and gained significant length over the last few years. I also love that idea of using less chemicals on my body. I’m not perfect at living a natural lifestyle, but I am always leaning in that direction. I feel safe putting this on my skin and that’s a great thing in my book.
Here is a demonstration of how I make my hair and skin cream.
I hope you give this a try. If you do, let me know how it works for you. What are your favorite oils? Do you have any beauty secrets to share?
I pray that you are blessed, happy and healthy!
